Position Title: Education Specialist I – World Languages
Position Code: 30122
Salary Range: $49,267.20-$100,651.20
Position Location: Instructional Services, Montgomery, Alabama or Birmingham, Alabama
Open Date: June 2024
The Instructional Services Section of the Alabama State Department of Education intends to fill one (1) Education Specialist I position.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Collaborates with ALSDE partners to conduct trainings, deliver educational programs, provide educational resources, and serve as the state world languages liaison to other agencies, colleges, universities, and the communities, including state and national world languages advisory boards
- Provide oversight and technical assistance for world languages across the curriculum
- Develop, plan, organize and implement professional learning opportunities in partnership with specialists working with students from special populations
- Provide instructional support and technical assistance, including instructional coaching support
- Assist with LEA root-cause analyses and instructional planning through implementation of evidence-based practices
- Assist with grant writing to support SDE instructional initiatives
- Complete SDE correspondence, reports, proposals, administrative documents, etc
- Assist with the development of Alabama Courses of Study
- Provide specialized training to ALSDE and local education agencies staff and other entities
- Design and write and/or coordinate the designing and writing of ALSDE materials
- Assist with Instructional Services partnerships
- Completes other projects and assignments as directed by the Coordinator of Instructional Services
Education:
- Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an approved subject matter or education specialty area. (Use this link for the Alabama State Personnel Department’s Degree Acceptance Policy) Degree Acceptance Policy – SPD – State of Alabama Personnel Department
Experience:
- Five years of professional teaching experience in the area of World Languages. Leadership with instructional coaching initiatives and knowledge of World Languages standards alignment across the curriculum is highly preferred.
- Candidate must hold an Alabama Professional Educator Certificate.
