Position Title: Education Specialist II

Position Code: 30120

Salary Range: (7681) $54,290.40 – $105,710.40

Position Location: Accountability Section, Montgomery or Birmingham

Open Date: July 2024


The Accountability Section of the Alabama State Department of Education intends to employ one (1) Education Specialist I.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Oversee the data collection, validation, and publication of the Education Report Card
  • Assist in the management of the accountability systems and program
  • Assist in the development and editing of business rules
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of data
  • Develop validation procedures to ensure accuracy in the reporting of results
  • Develop presentations, handbooks and training materials
  • Plan, organize, and implement professional development activities
  • Complete SDE reports, proposals, and administrative documents
  • Prepare SDE correspondence to LEAs and the public
  • Provide technical assistance to local education agency and school personnel
  • Monitor the accountability sections of Alabama’s ESSA Plan
  • Research state and federal laws and trends in accountability
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • A minimum of Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Psychometrics or mathematics preferred but not required
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in teaching, education administration or a related assignment

Experience:

  • Research and data analysis experience required
  • Statistical analysis experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge and experience with the accountability program preferred but not required
  • Computer related skills required – Microsoft Office, with strong skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Computer skills preferred – Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Access
