Salary Range: $50,253 .60-$102,664.80
Position Location: Student Assessment, Montgomery or Birmingham

The Student Assessment Section of the Alabama State Department of Education intends to hire one (1) Education Specialist I position.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Analyzes and prepares reports from local, state, and national assessment data as it relates to student performance.
- Works with other sections within the department to create data policies, improve data collection and develop systematic documentation.
- Develops and maintains historical data to monitor and track performance.
- Interprets and reviews assessment data to support planning of solutions of potential impediments associated with trend data.
- Conducts data validation of student demographic test data in order to ensure valid and reliable results.
- Works to provide data layout management/data mapping.
- Works to validate CSPR data.
- Works with districts/schools, as needed, in one-on-one and group settings to conduct training in the use of data to improve student results.
- Prepares ALSDE reports, memorandums, and Student Assessment documents.
- Assists with and is backup for a state assessment.
- Analyzes state data for accuracy and works with assessment vendors to address and amend any issues.
- Works with the State Assessment Coordinator to prepare special studies associated with resources and data from State Assessments and analyze how the two would impact learning.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an approved subject matter or education specialty area.
- A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in teaching, or a related assignment.
- Working with large scale data systems that requires following identified file specifications is preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience with test administration preferred.
- Technology Experience
- Experience in calculating basic statistics/summarizing data utilizing a data processing software (Microsoft Excel, SQL, SPSS, SAS Software, or Tableau) is required.
