Position Title:  Education Specialist I

Position Code: 30122

Salary Range: $50,253.60 – $102,664.80

Position Location: Montgomery, AL

Open Date: April 2025


The Federal Programs section intends to fill one (1) Education Specialist position. The position will provide support to LEAs in the administration of Federal Programs.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Conducting desk audits, pre-monitoring and monitoring visits in local education agencies (LEAs).
  • Reviewing and approving federal grant applications through electronic grant application program (eGAP).
  • Planning and/or conducting professional development growth opportunities for LEAs.
  • Overseeing one or more federal grant programs, ensuring compliance with federal guidance and regulations.
  • Assisting high-risk LEAs with analyzing and reviewing financial activities involving the preparation and administration of federal grant budgets.
  • Providing technical assistance to LEAs as needed.
  • Supporting the department to prepare for USED and single audit monitoring visits and reviews, and to remedy grant compliance issues or findings.

Education:

  • Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an approved subject matter or education specialty area

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience
  • Administrative experience preferred, not required

  • Knowledge of technology-support applications as related to specific job functions (Microsoft applications, for example)
