The Career and Technical Education/Workforce Development Section of the Alabama State Department of Education is seeking to employ two (2) Education Specialists.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Collaborate with the ALSDE staff and other stakeholders to help improve Career Coach and CTE programs in local school systems (LEAs).
  • Collaborate with the ALSDE staff and partners to provide high-quality, ongoing professional development, according to data and identified needs, to support Career Coach and CTE progra1ns and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with ALSDE staff to manage the Alabama Career Development Model framework and assist with its implementation.
  • Provide oversight and technical assistance for the Career Coach
  • Serve as a mentor for Career Coaches
  • Assist with the Alabama Career Planning System’s management and implementation in elementary, middle, and high schools.
  • Assist with the management and imple1nentation of the Be Pro Be Proud Alabama
  • Collaborate with ALSDE staff to update and produce career success guides for each of the career
  • Serve as the ALSDE liaison to regional workforce councils, economic development organizations, chamber of commerce, and other regional/community organizations.
  • Serve as ALSDE liaison to Alabama Community Colleges and other institutions of Higher
  • Represent and advocate for CTE internally to ALSDE committees and groups
  • Attend professional development conferences deemed necessary for the enhancement of CTE
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Overnight travel required

Education:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in an approved subject matter or education specialty area.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in teaching, education administration, or a related assignment.
  • Alabama Career Coach experience required.
