Position Title: Regional Coordinator Exempt
Salary Range: $58,111.20 – $125,304.00
Position Location: Office of Mathematics Improvement – Regional Positions (Region map included)
Open Date: April 2025
The Office of Mathematics Improvement Section of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) intends to fill one Regional Coordinator position in region 8. The Regional Coordinator position is an exempt position.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Provides oversight and technical assistance to full support and limited support schools as per the Alabama Numeracy Act (ANA).
- Develop, plan, organize and implement professional learning opportunities in partnership with ALSDE partners working with students from special populations.
- Complete SDE correspondence, reports, proposals, administrative documents, etc.
- Support and monitor the implementation of comprehensive mathematics curricula for core instruction and intervention programs or curricula, or both, approved by the Elementary Mathematics Task Force.
- Support and monitor the implementation of a multi-tiered system of support, including response to intervention, to monitor progress of struggling students, continually evaluate the effectiveness of instruction, and make more informed instructional decisions.
- Support and monitor the implementation of the intensive professional development series on foundational mathematics content knowledge.
- Support the Director of the Office of Mathematics Improvement in monitoring the implementation of approved formative assessments. screening assessments, and diagnostic assessments recommended by the Elementary Mathematics Task Force.
- Monitor and evaluate data collected from AMSTI and local education agencies to ensure coaching aligns with school needs and make recommendations for improvement to the mathematics coaches as needed to increase student achievement, collaboration, and support.
- Monitor the implementation and progress of the Alabama Summer Mathematics Achievement Program in full support schools.
- Completes other projects and assignments as directed by the Director of Mathematics Improvement.
Education:
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an approved content/subject or other education specialty area.
Experience:
- Experience teaching K-5 mathematics in a public school and experience serving as a K-5 mathematics specialist or coach.
- Completed OGAP training is highly preferred.
