Salary Range: (7680) $49,267.20-$100,651.20

Position Location: Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI), Montgomery, AL or Birmingham, AL

Open Date: May 2024


The AMSTI Section of the State Department of Education intends to hire an Education Specialist I to assist AMSTI with 6-8 Math.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Organizes and oversees the logistics of professional learning for AMSTI math training sessions.
  • Research, designs, and coordinates professional learning opportunities.
  • Facilitates professional learning opportunities and support for a variety of audiences.
  • Develops and maintains resources for math teachers which are accurate, well organized, etc.
  • Communicates, plans, and organizes projects with the ALSDE with other partners, vendors, etc.
  • Supports and assists AMSTI sites and LEAs, so that designated personnel are accurately informed.
  • Completes and communicates correspondence and other information, including itineraries, travel, etc.
  • Represents AMSTI at state and national events and travel, sometimes extensively.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education:

Experience:

  • Minimum five years teaching experience required in the area of math, Knowledge of AMSTI Technical program is highly preferred.

  • Strong computer skills, including the ability to develop and utilize spreadsheets and databases, to manage web pages, and to work fluently in G Suite
  • Excellent people/relationship building skills

  • Must be team-oriented and flexible
  • Ability to deliver presentations to professional audiences
  • Familiar with recent research-based strategies, materials, and models
