Salary Range: $49,267.20 – $100,651.20
Position Location: Instructional Services Montgomery,Alabama or Birmingham, Alabama

The Instructional Services Section of the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) intends to fill one (1) Education Specialist I position.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Collaborates with ALSDE partners to conduct trainings, deliver educational programs, provide educational resources, and serve as the state English Language Arts liaison to other agencies, colleges, universities, and the communities, including state and national English
Language Arts advisory boards. - Provide oversight and technical assistance for English Language Arts across the curriculum.
- Develop, plan, organize and implement professional learning opportunities in partnership with specialists working with students from special populations.
- Provide instructional support and technical assistance, including instructional coaching support.
- Assist with LEA root-cause analyses and instructional planning through implementation of evidence-based practices.
- Provide support to classroom teachers and local school leaders which fosters a culture of literacy and promotes literacy skills across all content areas.
- Assist with grant writing to support SDE instructional initiatives.
- Complete SOE correspondence, reports, proposals, administrative documents, etc.
- Assist with the state textbook adoption process and the development of Alabama Courses of Study
- Design and write and/or coordinate the designing and writing of ALSDE materials.
- Assist with Instructional Services partnerships.
- Completes other projects and assignments as directed by the Program Coordinator of Instructional Services
Education:
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in an approved content/subject or other education specialty area.
Experience:
- Five years of professional teaching experience in the area of English Language Arts. Leadership with instructional coaching initiatives and knowledge of English Language Arts standards alignment across the curriculum is highly preferred
