TEAMS Act Professional Development Application Reviews

The purpose of the TEAMS ACT Professional Development (PD) application is for professional development providers who wish to grant continuing education units (CEUs) or clock hours pursuant to Act 2021-342 to all educators on a TEAMS ACT contract in Alabama. The application submission and review dates are as follows:

Applications Due: December 31st

Review Period Ending: January- February annually

Approved List Published: March annually

Annual Application Deadline and Review: Applications will be accepted through December 31st annually.  Thereafter, the ALSDE will publish an updated TEAMS Approved PD list annually by March 1^st. Once a provider’s application is approved, it will remain on the TEAMS approved list for three years.  Further consideration will require a new application.
The Online Application  must be submitted by the posted deadline for a timely review.

TEAMS ACT Approved Professional Learning

Members of the Alabama Council for Leadership Development (ACLD) are appointed by Dr. Eric Mackey, using nominations received from the Alabama State Board of Education members, education associations, and other entities. ACLD members include the following active practitioners: local superintendents, local education agency (LEA) directors of instruction or equivalent positions, elementary school principals, middle school principals, high school principals, assistant principals and teachers who have distinguished themselves by leading sustained student achievement in their schools or LEAs. The ACLD provides advice for the development of a seamless system of professional development for Alabama’s instructional leaders. The council members serve a three-year staggered term and meet regularly during the year to ensure approved professional studies delivered over time fully address the Alabama Standards for Instructional Leaders, and are aligned to the Alabama Standards for Professional Development.

ACLD REVIEW DATES

The purpose of the online application system is to allow professional study providers to access, complete and submit the Instructional Leadership Professional Study Application (ILPSA) to the ACLD. Professional study providers are encouraged to submit the professional study application at least two months prior to the date of initial implementation, giving the ACLD adequate time to review. As a result, professional study providers will have appropriate time to respond to ACLD recommendations, as needed. The ACLD does not review applications for retroactive approval. The Alabama Council for Leadership Development (ACLD) must receive the online professional study application by the submission deadline date.

The Alabama Teacher Growth Program (ATGP) promotes continuous monitoring of the teachers’ ability to support the implementation of Alabama Core Teaching Standards (ACTS), improve instructional practices, seek professional supports, and increase student performance. The ATGP logo encompasses these foundational goals. The ATGP ensures that educators work in collaboration with school administrators to determine areas of strength and areas of growth. The ATGP assists educators in goal setting, observations and feedback, and reflective discussions that ultimately improves teaching practices. The ATGP components include a Self-Assessment, the ATOT, a Professional Learning Plan (PLP), and a Professional Practice Diagnostic (optional). Together these tools ensure there are numerous opportunities to provide effective feedback to educators.
