Belinda McRae
Representative, District 07
Born in Hamilton, Alabama, Mrs. McRae graduated from Hamilton High School. In 2017 she was named Alumna of the Year. She earned B.S., M.A., and Ed.S degrees from the University of North Alabama, Florence. Employed by the Marion County School System, she taught English and art in Grades 7-12 for twenty-five years. For the next ten years, she worked at Bevill State Community College in many capacities, including Community Liaison, English instructor, and Continuing Education Coordinator (Hamilton Campus).
In 2004, Mrs. McRae was elected to the Marion County Board of Education where she was privileged to represent District 3 in Hamilton until 2021. She was honored to serve a term on the Alabama Association of School Boards’ Board of Directors 2012-2014. She recently completed a three-year term as a trustee of the Hamilton United Methodist Church. She is currently president of the Northwest Alabama Arts Council, member of the Marion Regional Medical Center Board, and the ALGOP Executive Committee. She is married to Jim McRae (37 yrs.), and they have one son, Matt.
