The Additional Teaching Field – Computer Science is for an individual seeking additional certification in Computer Science if:

1. A valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in a teaching field is held; AND

2. A passing score on the appropriate Alabama prescribed Praxis subject area test is attained.

The Computer Science Course Specific Permit is for an individual who has completed the required course-specific training through an ALSDE-approved training provider AND holds a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate or a valid Bachelor’s Equivalent 2 or higher Career and Technical Certificate. The Computer Science Permit must be requested by an employing Alabama city/county superintendent.
